*First Time Visitors, Click HERE Thank You, Onion. (9/28/01) Matt S., the Grundy Maestro, brought to my attention something that I've been sadly missing: The Onion. When all else fails, you can always count on the Onion, and in this time of madness, they haven't let us down. With a series of funny & sometimes poignant articles like: "Hijackers Surprised to Find Selves In Hell", "God Angrily Clarifies 'Don't Kill' Rule", "President Urges Calm, Restraint Among Nation's Ballad Singers", and "Jerry Falwell: Is That Guy A Dick Or What?". It's funny. It's cathartic to read. & Portions are going to the relief effort. Good Stuff. Saw a really nice picture done by one of the Captain America artists. Going back to work on Monday. Unfortunately, it seems that I won't be working for the Performing Arts Center for a while. I've been drafted to work for another part of the college during the crisis time, so my hours are all changed now, too. But hey--at least I still have a job, right? Oh, and for a special treat, the Jedi Pages are being updated. We've grown, and thusly, we've been re-organized, and I'm working on updating the layout to everyone's bio's (plus fixing up some w/ new pictures). Anyone who want's to update some of them w/ new info--send it my way. So, without further ado: I bring you JEDI BOBO and JEDI ELLA.Inward Singing (9/25/01), 11:41pm Addendum to today's updates--just found out some "Ed" info from Sperm: You heard him, kids. Shave your poodles and get ready for some lovely Bonnie! I can't hardly wait for the Ed-ness to begin w/ a quickness. Just watched "Hannibal" w/ Gimpo--the movie ending is better than the book (but that's not saying much). Also, I've updated the Mystery Link and Pic to go along with the themes stemming from Sept. 11th. Pace. Kluv Seems like things are starting to work towards a new sense of normalcy 'round these parts. Gimp is back in the fold from her NC gig (Great Reviews), & Duck went to and fro Chicago this past week (Whattup Sorel, Megs, & Mitch). Therefore, I think i best get back to the page goods, and pass on some words--since I'm not working still & don't know when we're going back (hopefully soon). I've spent the last two weeks in a haze of Nintendo 64, Cheeze Puffs, Public Enemy, and no shaving (still showered, though)--so it's time for some productivity (although, I'm still avoiding the shaving). I spent Monday creating the website for the Pineapple Project, a good step, and it is looking pretty good. Amongst the fantabulous emails everyone has sent--I was given an account of a recent Wesley Willis show that Amy, friend of Punk Rock attended. Now, i am even more distressed that I was unable to witness Wesley in all his glory. Read:
Hopefully Jane's Addiction will be able to live up to WW's legend. But on the amazing rockin'/and/or/rollin' tip--I have come today to preach one thing to you, my people: OBEY THE D. The D that I speak of is the self-proclaimed "Greatest Band Ever to Walk The Earth" Tenacious D . The D is two men: JB and KG (also known as Jack Black and Kyle Gass). Their debut album came out today, and is not only one of the funniest albums i've ever heard, but it indeed rocks your socks. Plus, it definitely earns its Explicit Content label, which is always a good thing. Feel free to check out them @ their website, or view their video for the beautiful balad: "Fuck Her Gently" at Spumco Cartoons. Musical, Comical, and Rock Genius. A kick-ass way to pick up your spirits after the last two weeks. That said, great time had @ Brantley's on Saturday, had a great time with the complete recordings of Public Enemy, Redman, & others thanks to Bobo's 'aquiring' of them from work, and I finally bought the new Ben Folds album which brought me to the WTC all those two weeks ago. Perhaps I'll get to see some of y'all @ Duck's concert this Thursday? Keep up the postings on the messageboard--it's nice to know how everyone's been doing since the World blew up. PS -
I updated the Mystery Link & Pic to go more along w/ Sept.
11th. Pace. I (heart) NY. (9/19/01) Hi kids. Even a week later, I'm still having difficulty expressing my feelings in words. I think the best way to express it for everyone would be to volunteer your time in the city, or by giving to the red cross (see above) to help with the efforts. I look forward to seeing many of you very soon, and perhaps I will this Saturday @ Brother Brantley's. Keep keeping each other company on the messageboard, I'll be back with my snappy updates once I find my footing. Be sure and tell any IC'ers you can think of that might not know of the site about us. Many folks found us during the crisis, and were able to find some semblance of community on our lovely messageboard. It was nice. Much love, kids. Tuesday, September 11th, 2001... (9/12/01) Everyone and anyone looking for contact with the folks from NYC and abroad, go right onto the messageboard, where you can keep up with how things are. I don't have the energy to relay my story now, but feel free to call and check in. In the midst of all the madness, the feeling of all your arms reaching out for us was a sweet spot that helped with that mountain-sized knot in the pit of our collective stomach. Bad, bad stuff.
