Three days was the morning... (10/16/01)

Words cannot properly describe the experience that I had last night @ Madison Square Garden. But I will try. I took place in what was more akin to a Dionysian Festival than a standard arena rock concert. I saw Jane's Addiction.

I saw the best concert I have ever seen in my life.

The show was a 13-song assault/banquet of sights & sounds. The opening? The pulsing sound of "Kettle Whistle"; with the visual of the arms and legs and bodies of many female dancers as they rose from underneath the folds Perry's billowing skirt--a 50+ foot parachute-like-piece that made him look as if he were a Djinn floating upon clouds. Throughout the show the music was complimented by 6-8 ladies in various forms of undress who danced, climbed, swung, and dripped with sensuality on platforms around the arena, scaffolding behind the band & a carousel on stage right that they were able to fly through the air on. On a platform in the audience, a man dressed in feathers and looking like a South American Bird-God went nuts dancing in a tribal nature while Jane's played "Ocean Size". During "Summertime Rolls" there was a gigantic seesaw on stage. Two dancers gyrated and flew each other skyward, while Perry sang from the middle of it. During "Mountain Song" he hung from the carousel (think of a "chair swing" ride @ an amusement park, but smaller), flying through the air while he sang.

Halfway through their set, the entire band dissapeared only to reappear moments later upon a small circular stage in the center of the audience where they would embrace the crowd & share love with the audience between intimate renditions of "Jane Says" & "Classic Girl". Both Dave & Perry played songs of their recent respective solo efforts. Dave had "NYC" written on his chest. An American flag hung on the right of the stage. There was a sensation of joy & love coming from the band through the entire night--and it was palpable. Perry spoke at one point, saying: "We love you guys....No, we really do. I'm not just saying 'woo, we love you'---I'm saying that we love you......I mean we really love each and every one of you. We love you like your parents love you. And we are so glad that you are here.....I don't mean here tonight with us in the building----but here.....Alive and well in New York City."

You could taste the sincerity in his voice. You believed him, and you felt loved.

The set list:

"Ocean Size"
"Ain't No Right"
"Three Days"
"Stop"
"Summertime Rolls"

And for any of you who are dying to hear of the experience in person--you can meet up with me on Wednesday at Duck's Gig. Mrs. Grundy will be playing a gig at "Elbow Room"--where we are looking to get plenty of people there to blow the roof off. It's their first gig there, so if you can make it, come and join us and rock out to the best of your ability. See events for details.

Also, for your second hit of the season II ED ALERT!, Spermy is back with the episode that you better be taping tomorrow @ 8pm. Love that joker!

Okay, I'm feeling drained after writing and reliving my experiences of last night. Time for a nappy nap. Gimmie that! Gimme that--your automobile, turn off that smokestack and that goddamn radio-

hum...along with me...hum along with the t.v.

A-a-a-a-m-m-m-m-m-m. No one's--gonna--stop.

"Pretty-Much-You-Might-Want-To-See TV" (10/15/01)

Hey there, Ithacamafiaers. Three down, nineteen more episodes to air of the new CBS reality show I've been working on called "THE BRAVEST." I know you all are probably sick of reality based programming on every station this year. That's why we love "ED", "West Wing" and "The Sopranos." But this one is different. I helped edit it. It's true. Check the credits. Isn't that reason enough to watch and make fun of me later. It's definately better that "Temptation Island" or "Big Brother2" Anyways, if you just happen to stay up late on Sunday nights check it out. I know it's a crappy time slot but it's what CBS had to offer. In short, it's sort of like Fox's COPS but with firefighters. 22 episodes set for syndication across the U.S and Internationally as well. That's Sunday nights at 11:35pm on CBS channel 2. Thanks. See ya!!!

It's Not T.V., it's Reality-Based-DB.

It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. (10/9/01)

Live from the Flu-ridden mind of Kluv, here is the first update of Rocktober. Haven't had much time to work on the site, as my new "work" situation is still panning itself out--and my mind just hasn't had enough time to focus on things Ithacamafialike. I'll do my best to keep you all updated on new events, however.

The first thing you should do is peep the updated events page. There are many folk planning many things in the coming weeks, and you should find most of them all there.

I know that the Pineapple Project is planning a little benefit thing for this Sunday, which any and all available should check out. It is for the Twin Towers Orphan Fund, and should be a good/worthwhile time for all.

Also, Jedi Frants has put the call out for his B-Day celebration on the Messageboard:

Okay, so I had mentioned that my b-day celebration would be held over for a week. Well, that week has come.

This Saturday, starting around 8pm, Mr. T. Mayes and I will be hanging at Sweet and Vicious (5 Spring St @ Bowery), celebrating my 25th and his 26th. A great amount of Ithacans will be there, and also perhaps people from Dallas, from Tony n Tina, etc... It will be quite a time, please stop by.

More to come!
Frants

Keep an eye out for Duck on NBC's "Third Watch". The Ep is Titled "The Relay" and by our estimates (nothing confirmed) it should be on Monday, Nov. 5th @ 9pm.

Nice WWing last week. I have it on tape for folks to view, if needed. Stop on by.

Also, Adios to Jedirish who has ridden off into the wilderness known as The Road. He'll be back in a few weeks, but for now, he's SM'ing his very first Tour. Good Luck, my friend---and Godspeed.

Aside from the tons of Fun to be found this weekend events-wise, I believe my ol' pal Jedi Klove is making his first appearance of Fall 2001. Keep an eye out for him as you traverse the city's funplaces. Of course, the true capper to the first weekend of Roctober comes on Monday the 15th. Why, that is when we will be seeing the greatest band of my childhood: JANE'S ADDICTION. Lord knows I can use a show like this...I hope it lives up to my expectations.
