*First Time Visitors, Click HERE Tougher Than Leather (8/15/01) More cosmetic (and a wee bit of content) updates to the Story , Music, Pics, & Reviews sections. I'm leaving on a non-jet train tomorrow, so no updates for you over the weekend, suckahs. Entertain yourselfs with some pretty wallpaper from Starwars.com & read a great article on "BaseBrawls" by Bill "Boston Sports Guy" Simmons on Page2. Oh, and the "SpyTV" ep. w/ Jessie I mentioned was a sham. She was acting. Remember, kids: no friends over the house this weekend--and I want you in by 10:30. It's a school week. Come Alive (8/14/01) So, I'm flipping through the channels whilst eating dinner this eve, and I happen upon the quality program, 'SpyTV'. Guess who is one of the "victims" of a rougue fortune teller---one long lost Ithaca Alumn, Jessie Viola. So whether it was a setup, and she was 'acting' the part of duped, or whether Jessie actually solicits Tarot Card readings on a regular basis (not surprisingly, I think the latter is more likely)--she was to be found Tuesday eve on NBC. Pretty strange. Nothing like a good Little League baseball game on the Deuce. Right now Bronx, NY is pitching a no-hitter thru 5 vs. State College, PA. My alliances are split down the middle. As you can see, I've been playing around w/ the graphics on the main page. Lemme know what y'all think. Well, I'm gon' go listen to Afroman (maestro behind 'Because I Got High') on Loveline. I must remember to turn my alarm on tonight, though. I forgot last night, and ended up being a wee bit late for work. Remember:
If
ya wanna write an update, be sure to send it to me by Wed. "Well Played, Clerks. Well Played." (8/13/01) The heat, my kids--the heat! It is finally starting to relent (albeit slowly), and hopefully I'll soon be able to turn off the $$$ Air Conditioning and sit in peace without the need to put a "George Foreman Fat Catcher"-like device under me to collect all of the sweat that drips off... Yummy. Had a fun time this weekend with our first "View Askew Marathon". Enjoyed Bob's hospitality on Friday night @ his swinging pad, where Jedirish, GiMp, J2S, Molls, Bobo & Myself all partook in the fun of "Clerks" (terrifying original ending!), "Mallrats" (terrible original opening), 3 episodes of "Clerks: the Animated Series" (Charles Barkely getting dissed = Comedy), and tons of Pizza, Garlic Sticks, & Wings. Day 2 brought new folks when Bob came out to Queens, picked up a childhood pal, and then hooked up w/ Sperm & Diesel @ our humble abode. We peeped "Chasing Amy" (Great Askew Legend in the liner notes), "Dogma" (the 'Fat Albert' scene is the nootch!) & the rest of the Cartoons ("Who is driving? Oh My God! Bear is Driving! How Can That Be?") !thanks to Spermy's PS2. All in all, it was the perfect precursor to "J&SBSB" which will hit in a week and a half... Speaking of Jay & Silent Bob--check out the soundtrack which not only has supurb music & bytes from the movie--but a video of Jay doing his updated 2001 rap. To all interested parties: the 2001 football season begins soon, and with that comes our second year of Pigskin Pick'ems on ESPN.com. It hasn't begun yet, but when it does, I'll be creating our league again & inviting everyone. Let me know if you are interested, and I will send you the info when it becomes available. ...Also, if you played last year and have any suggestions (spread/no-spread, etc.) for changes this year, pass em' onto me. If anyone is planning on writing an update for the page this week--be sure and email them to my by Wednesday, as I'll be out of town for the weekend @ a wedding. (Although, I fear that nobody plans to do any updating on their own -- methinks the "let's make it a group effort" speeches given a few weeks ago have lost their luster...*sigh*). Last weeks news has moved on up to the Archives. Also, I wanted to apologize to Punk Rock for missing her raucus/Dionysian b.day excursion to Mars. GiMp & I went to Crooklyn for her friend's b.day earlier in the evening--but after we left, the lovely NYC Subway system was a harsh mistress & delayed our arrival at 42nd St. until 1:30am. (And we all know that I turn into at 2am...) So, we had to hightail it back to Queens before then...but I received a message on my answering machine detailing my punishment (which I deserve): "...(Ben-No) kicking me squarely in the Sack." I
deserve it. Really. And I *promise* not to enjoy it. I think that is about all I have for everyone. I'm going to go and listen me some LOVELINE on WNEW. Afroman (from the J&SBSB Soundtrack's "I Got High") is on tonight, and Kevin Smith is on tomorrow. Radio is fun. Thanks to Duck & Bob for teaching me that. Viva la Fez! "Do it Doug!!!!" |
