Whiskey In The Jar (5/3/01)

Ring Dabadoo DabaDah. Figured I'd drop a quick ol' update on everyone before I make the all-important decision on what I will watch on the television tonight: 1.) Survivor Finale 2.) Smackdown 3.) Friends 4.) Nothing 5.) Nintendo Baseball 6.) Read The Angel of Darkness 7.) Listen to the newly delivered double-mixorific cd's made by Jedi Klove for our annual mixed-tape (now mixed-cd) exchange. --[REM did a cover of "Draggin' The Line"? Who knew, but tis' very good.]

Will it be #2? Perhaps both #5 AND #7....don't worry, we'll keep the scene monitored and continue to provide up-to-the-minute information as this situation develops, faithful readers. Cha-cha-cha-changes....

We have a little picture compliments of Jedi GiMp's parental unit: The Legendary Mothra, it's one of the more terrifying things I've ever seen. Beware, felinephobics.

Now, I know that almost every week, I say "Oh, West Wing and Ed were Soooooo Goooood this Week! MMmmmMMm *kiss* *kiss* MMmmmMMmMM!" But this week, I think Ed was one of my personal favorites to date (even though we didn't have an Ed Alert for it, Mr. Sperm...), with Warren being 100% kick-ass. West Wing? I just hope that I can handle the season finale. And I thought I would shit myself last season...

I'd like to give a big shout-out to our lovely paly-o Lindsay, who I haven't seen in a disgusting amount of time. (She drinks Black Forest at will in Moonshadows, for which, I am insane with jealousy.) And speaking of Ithaska (which I was, in case you were unawares), here are two pics that Diggity-Dawg took on his last trip up to the motherland. Take a Bite, Earl & The Man(?), The Myth, The Legend. Yeah--and don't forget to go catch Duck, Chris, BA, et. al. tomorrow night @ the neva. See Events.

I don't think Survivor is going to win out. Maybe I'll try and catch the end.

For now, I think I'll be content with a little Dropkick Murphys, some Iced Tea, and my Swiffer. There's nothing as sassifying as a good Swiffing of one's apartment, as I'm sure many of you (Punk Rock particularly) can attest to. I'm cleaning as my own Ma & Da will be coming up for this weekend's 5k Run/Walk. Speaking of which--I'd like to thank all of you who donated to our participation in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancers this Saturday -- It was very nice to see some of ya give us a couple of bucks, even though I know most of you aren't "rolling" in the dough.

It really meant a lot to me. And I won't forget it.
Thanks.

Kluv

ps--It's two hours later. I just caught the end of Survivor. Tina won.

Houses of the Holy (4/30/01)

I'm sitting in front of the computer while some beguiling Spanish music (sounds like Opera, but with a xylophone) plays in the courtyard outside the apartment. I'm guessing that the cat understands it, because it sounds as if she's singing along.

So what to say?
Well, first off, apologies to the three people who tried to get onto the site Thurs/Fri/Sat and were unable to proceed with Mafia goodness (just kidding haha we had more than three people try to get on, it was probably more like 7 or 8). Jedi aDAm is newly unemployed (one thing at a time, I'll explain in a second), and he was fiddling with the Firewall/Server last week, thus causing the inaccessability of the site. Mystery solved by those Meddling Kids, end of episode.

aDAm unempoyed? Yup, you heard right. Surprisingly, he got a pink slip from his employers (1 day notice after a year[s] worth of service!?! Bullshit, if you ask me...) a few weeks ago, and has had plenty of time to play with his computer. In reality, it's actually not too terrible, since he was planning on quitting in the future--his beau Jennette got accepted to Carnegie M. for grad school (big congratulations to Ms. J), and they're planning on moving out to Pittsboig. What doth this mean for the site as he's the home for it? Well, who knows, but aDAm and I are gonna talk and figure out the options as soon as we get around to it...
the cat has stopped singing now that the music is over.

Fri:
drank large amounts of dark beer w/ Jedis Bowie, Diesel, Marcs, O'Neill, and friend JimBo at the Bohemian Beer Garden. I think we called China on 3 cell phones simultaneously at midnight, perhaps ending the conversation with a lengthy impression of Darth Okay Okay. Met up with GiMp & Kate later in the evening where myself & Steve were given gifts of naughty elephant & devil underwear (respectively), and treated to the story how GiMp got Boy George's autograph earlier in the evening:

BOY was at the "Cowgirl Hall of Fame". The validity of his being BOY was confirmed with The Waiter: "Yes dear, it's BOY, In all her splendor..." After some hemming and hawing and nervousness (it is BOY, after all) GiMp approached BOY, and asked for his autograph, presenting a torn piece of paper from Kate's datebook that was stained w/ grease from the delicious sweet potato fries they had just eaten. BOY signed said paper, and says: "I particularly like the grease stains!" (perhaps not with an exclamation point like that, but it was definitely with more OOOMPH than a period would indicate, so we'll go with an exclamation point--which--I feel is so much more BOY, don't you?) GiMp triumphantly returns with the precious BOY autograph, and later presents it to us Gawkers @ the Beer Garden. Diesel tried to convince us that we were looking at the autograph upside-down, but he was found to be wrong by a 4-1 vote.

Sat:
went to stop and shop after spring cleaning the house. Tacos and Iron Chef and Howard Stern boxing ended the day.
Sun:
wonderful day in the sun with many many people and had beautiful times playing games in Central Park:

  1. The "throwing baseballs and making spectacular catches and trying not to hit other people/frisbee's" Game.
  2. The "watch the Yankees/Mets little league baseball game and cheer them and their skills/lackthereof until we can take their field for wiffleball" Game.
  3. The "play wiffleball on the real baseball field even though people show up and want us to leave so they can play softball, but 'you don't sign out fields at Central Park, so you can wait your turn, just like we did', so we keep playing wiffleball until the other people get frustrated and leave" Game.
  4. The "watch and laugh as 2-Shoes gets into a fight with two 11 year-old girls who keep throwing their baseball into our wiffleball game and WHY won't they listen to him when he very simply explains that they should 'throw their ball the other way' " Game.
  5. The "Kelly has a kickass cuteass pug named Layla and we're going to play with it and kiss it and love it because it's cuter than any damn thing I've seen in years and oh my god what it she chewing on now?!" Game.

These were all great fun and now I have my first nose-burn of the season. Huzzah. Also, great burritos by Jedi Ms. last night when JoeyJoeJoe & herself hosted us for some SimpsonsDinner. Thanks again! Mmmmmmmmmmm...Burrito.
the Cat is now talking to me...what does she want?

Oh, and I've updated the Mystery Link---this one cometh compliments of Diesel, check it out. The Mystery Pic is updated as well, with a pic that pertains to this update inparticular...The Events page is a bit smaller, but the info on this week's concert @ the Neva (Duck, BA, Chris B., etc.) has been updated w/ new info (re: No COVER CHARGE) take a peep. Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, y'all. Also, spent some time during work today reading some articles on Salon.com. Nice one on a Palahnuik Convention (lecture? seminar?), and some music reviews by Nick Hornby. Bien.
